Post Match Review: Arsenal vs Manchester City

Manchester City has lost a deciding match, having beaten by Arsene Wenger's men in last night match. Statistic showed that Mancini side is losing the edge and lost control of the game. Prior to Arteta's goal, the wood work has saved Manchester City twice from a worse faith. However, Mario Balotelli made headlines one more time as he received second yellow card at the end of the match. It's likely that Mario will face 3 matches ban from FA. Let's take a look:

And the play by play:

Manchester City was dominated in all statistic, and only had 36% of ball possession. Mancini's strategy, which was praised widely by the media, is losing its grip; and many experts pointed up his rigidness in his strategy and not much change were introduced when other teams stated to catch up with their playing style. His soft touch on Balotelli is another point that being thrash talked a lot in discussion board and forums.

Well, it seems that all hopes for the title have lost for Manchester City, trailing behind MU 8 points. In the earlier match, MU has scrapped a 2-0 win over 10 men QPR. In the last two matches, referee's favor always has the say in the Red Devil match. With their experience as a title contestant for so many years, it seems unlikely that Ferguson's men will hiccup in the last 6 rounds.

Arsenal vs Chelsea 21st April 2012

Arsenal vs Chelsea is always a big event, a match up of the big boys in the Premier League. It's even more vital as both teams are competing for a spot in Champions League next season. So their meet up this coming 21st April at 13:45, Emirates Stadium is promised to be party of football's excellence. In the last 5 meetings, Chelsea is in the lead, however Arsenal seems to be performing well, having beaten the Blues in the last 2 matches. Let's take a look:

Arsenal seems to be in particular good form, they have just beaten Manchester City last night, with Arteta scored a spectacular goal from 25 yard. In fact, in the last 8 games, they won 7 and lost 1. Chelsea with the regime of Di Matteo is performing as well as they could, and already advanced to semi-final of Champions League.

On the other hand, history is on Arsenal side having won 19 times compared to Chelsea's 13 times. In terms of goal this season, Arsenal has a commanding lead, with Persie's number of goals equal to total of the 3 top scorer of Chelsea.

With 5 points difference, this is a match Chelsea must make no error in order to be in top 4 this season, which is something considered more important than Champions League by Matteo.

Given the performance of Arsenal, and yet convincing talent of Matteo, I would say the two teams are on equal foot. However, advantage of homeground is something that Chelsea does not have, therefore I would predict a minimum win of 2-1 for Arsenal this time around.

Post Match Stats: Chelsea vs Benfica

Chelsea overcame Benfica last night with aggregated score of 3-1 to advance to the semi-final, where they'd meet the nemesis Bacerlona, the most offensive team this UCL season with 33 goals to boost. Let's take a look at the stats and play by play last night:

Stamford Bridge last night was packed with 37264 spectators, who saw Chelsea took the lead in first half, Benfica caught up at 85 minutes mark before Meireless closed the game with 2-1 at 91 minutes. However, the match was not what it may have seemed. Take a look at this:

It was a controversial decision when referee awarded the Blues with a penalty at 21', which was neatly executed by Lampard. Another unnecessary harsh sanction saw Pereira sent off at 40' leaving Benfica with 10 men squad. Despite that fact, Benfica was on par in terms of ball possessions with Chelsea, and better in all other stats like Free Kicks, Shot on Target, Goal Attempts and etc. If it hadn't been for spectacular of Cech in the box, Chelsea might have faced a different faith. Here is the final stats for this game:

Stay tuned folks, as the soccer madness is still far ahead, with the English Premier League reaching its climax, and semi-final of UCL approaching. Hello World!

I'm a Sports Fanatics, and very much into analyzing all the statistic & details of Sports matches. If you understand well the statistic of a game, you might be able to predict the outcome of the match and/or understand the reason behind each decision of coaches during the game. I'm not saying that you will be able to be a coach like Sir Alex Ferguson or something, but yes, you will be able to understand the game more; and who knows, you may score higher in your EPL Fantasy League or win a few bets for yourself.

So, back to business, I'm creating this blog to share my thoughts and prediction on my selected games. Of course, like most people, my favorite Sports is football (soccer, not American football :). I've been a sports bettor for a long time, and it works for me knowing the stats & analysis prior to the game. Well, not all betting website provides you with all the data & info of Soccer, let alone all kind of Sports. After searching for quite sometimes, I've found the source I wanted. The courtesy goes to 36BOL.com, an Asian online betting website, which provides all the stats you ever want.
