Post-match Statsitics: first day of EURO 2012


9 June 2012, Poland and Greece drew in a dramatic match with a red card for each team while Russia hammered Czech last night, the first day of EURO 2012. 

Poland looked sharp in their offense, however Greece's experience and trade mark defensive skills held them to a 1-1 draw. Our pre-match prediction and analysis were correct. (click HERE for full detail) So congrats to those of you who followed our tip and had a good pick with 36BOL last night. 

On the second match, Czech seemed lack of attacking strategy until late, while Russia showed a spectacular performance with Arshavin blended so well with Zenit team-mate Dzagoev. 4-1 is the final score of this match.

Lewandowski was the first player to score at EURO 2012 with his opener at 17 minutes. Greece looked troubled at 44 minutes after Sokratis setn off. Second half saw the revival of Greece and their attack paid off at 55 minutes, leveling the match. Tyton, the substitute goalkeeper, became Poland's hero when he came off the bench and saved a penalty at 70 minutes mark.

Poland clearly had a better stats compared to Greece as their ball possession is 53%. In terms of goal attempts and shots, they were in the lead as well.

By 24 minutes, Russia already took 2 goals lead, which was maintained until 52 minutes when Vadav shortened the odds for Czech. However the score gap was re-established at 79 minutes following by final goal at 82 minutes for Russia.

Statistically, Russia was not dominant, as they possessed 51% of the ball and had 15 goal attempts compared to Czech's 11. It seemed that their offense were so much more effective compared to Czech. 

Tonight, the hardest group of EURO 2012 will kick off tonight with two matches Germany vs Portugal and Netherlands vs Denmark.
